The Rice Purtiy Test is a self-assessment test. It was initially introduced by the students of Rice University, Housten, Texas. The Roce Purity Test first appeared in 1924 with only 10 questions focused on mild social and moral behaviours. The purpose of this test was to let people see how "pure" they were in their life experiences. It got popularity when The Rice Thresher (the student newspaper) first published the results of an informal version of the survey in the same year. As the time went on, the quiz turned into a 100-question questionnare.
The test originally was created this test for first year students. The freshmen would take it during Orientation Week.
It gave students a relaxed, voluntary way to connect with their O-week groups, share experiences, and build friendships. At the same time, it let them reflect on how their lives and experiences evolved throughout their college journey.
The questions in the test typically cover several distinct life areas; suc as romantic and sexual experiences, substance use, academic integrity and legal and social deviance.
This is not a checklist of things to achieve.
The score is calculated based on how many questions one ticks. Each selection adds to your experience while adjusting your score accordingly. The less the score, the more the experience. Contrarily, more score means one has less experience.
There is no good or bad score for this test. Some may score 80, and some 30 based on their life experiences. Every score is different life story.
